Cage and Control
Egg shells, copper.
4" x 5" x 14"
2022
Cage and Control is a series of eggs with electroformed images of various farm cages. Electroforming is an electrolytic process of transferring metal particles to another object, in this case, to talk about the relationship between cage materiality and animals. Through this work, I am investigating what it means for a living animal to be born into confinement. While working with these eggs, it became apparent that a chicken’s egg is not the only egg being controlled within Western society.
