In this work, I am mimicking the tactics of cosmetic advertisements through video. While investigating commercial strategies, I identified keywords and began dissecting how language gets twisted through advertisements. In this video, I utilize these words in sardonic ways to illuminate the fallacies behind how the cosmetic industry revenues billions each year. I am also pushing and pulling between medical and cosmetic aesthetics by using specific set pieces, including a stainless steel table and vanity mirror. In the creation of this video, I found inspiration looking into Pipolotti Rist and her artwork Open My Glade (Flatten), where Rist addresses boundaries placed on women.
